As a result of Hurricane Harvey, Houston and other parts of southern Texas are at risk of many infectious diseases. Just coming into contact with the dirty floodwater puts people at risk of contracting a number of possible diseases. Health officials are recommending that Houston residents boil their tap water before drinking in order to kill any bacteria.
